LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A large new study confirms potential health risks associated with silicone breast implants.

Researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center tracked 100,000 patients with both saline and silicone implants.

They found women with silicone implants were much more likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis, and some other rare autoimmune diseases, than the general population, but no link to fibromyalgia.

Breast implants are used in nearly 100,000 reconstructions for breast cancer every year and in 300,000 women annually who simply want to enhance or enlarge their breasts.
