Know the Foe: No. 12 West Virginia

Red Raiders focused on West Virginia

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Texas Tech is coming off a huge 41-17 win over Oklahoma State, and with the win, that landed the Red Raiders ranked 25th in the AP Top 25.

But now they are gearing up to face one of the toughest teams in the Big 12 Conference – No. 12 West Virginia.

The Mountaineers come to Lubbock this Saturday 3-0 on the season, and according to Vegas are 4-point favorites to beat the Red Raiders.

Without a doubt, they are one of the more complete teams Texas Tech will face all season.

Through four weeks this season, the Mountaineers defense has been nothing short of impressive. They lead the Big 12 in scoring defense, second in total defense, and second in rushing defense.

They are also tied with Utah for the title of America’s stingiest defense, as they have allowed just 12.3 points per game through the first three games.

But it will be tough for the Mountaineers to maintain those spots with the Red Raiders explosive offense looming.

On the other side of the ball, West Virginia is led by quarterback Will Grier. Grier sits second in the Big 12, just behind Alan Bowman for passing yards per game.

Through the first three weeks of the season, West Virginia sits third in the league for total offense. They have the third best passing offense, third best scoring offense, and eighth best rushing offense.

Kick off for the No. 25 Red Raiders and No. 12 Mountaineers is slated for 11 a.m. on Saturday. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN2.
