LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Grab your jacket or sweater on the way outside today because temperatures starting in the mid to upper 40′s this morning will stay cool while cloud cover increases through the day. High temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 50′s in Lubbock today with a slight chance for some drizzle or light rain to drift through the city during the Hub City BBQ.
Temperatures will not fall much through the overnight hours but patchy morning fog may develop along the western viewing area by sunrise which may reduce visibility for morning commuters. High temperatures tomorrow will return to the upper 60′s and low 70′s across the South Plains under mostly sunny sky until remnants of Tropical Storm Sergio begin to arrive later in the day.
Rain chances begin to increase Friday afternoon and evening and will be increasing through Saturday with rainfall totals between 1-3 inches possible. This system should depart the region quickly but behind it cold air will be ushered in which will once again reduce temperatures for Sunday afternoon and bring the possibility for parts of the northern South Plains, such as Muleshoe and Friona to flirt with the first freeze of the season.
