Writer of LCU’s alma mater, Wayne Hinds, dies

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Wayne Hinds, a founding faculty member of Lubbock Christian University and the man who composed the music for the university’s alma mater, died Tuesday afternoon.

A service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in the McDonald Moody Auditorium on LCU’s campus with a reception afterward.

Hinds came to the university in 1957 and founded the A Cappella Chorus and directed the group until his retirement in 1998. He was also credited, along with his wife Yvonne, with composing the music to the LCU alma mater.

In 2017 the Hinds received the 60th Anniversary Enduring Legacy Award for their commitment to the university.
