LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -According to TexasTech.com, Red Raider Defensive Back Adrian Frye was selected for the Freshman All-American Team Monday by the Football Writers of America.
Frye is the first Red Raider Freshman to earn this honor from FWAA since Le’Raven Clark picked it up in 2012.
Jack Anderson earned Freshman All-American Honors in 2017 from ESPN and USA Today.
Frye had 5 interceptions for the Red Raiders last season and broke up 13 other passes making him the Big 12 leader. Frye also shares the FBS best among Freshman with 18 passes defended. He’s also tied for 8th nationally.
Frye was also named to the All Big 12 First Team by the Associated Press and Conference Coaches.
The last Red Raider defensive player to earn All-American Honors was Jarvis Phillips in 2011.
