Grand Jury indicts man for evading arrest after July 2018 police chase in Slaton

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - 44-year-old Samuel Rodriguez Morales was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday, January 8, for evading arrest in a vehicle.

He was arrested following a chase through Slaton in July of 2018.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the chase started with an attempted traffic stop on US 84 east of Southland near County Road 160 in Garza County on July 19, around 7:15 p.m.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued westbound through Slaton.

The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office placed spike strips in the westbound lanes of US 84, successfully stopping the vehicle at 1585.

DPS says four people were detained without incident. The driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Samuel Rodriguez Morales of Mexico, was arrested for evading arrest with a vehicle.

The other three occupants were released at the scene.
