LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -A fast moving disturbance will track across the South Plains Thursday night and Friday.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible later tonight. Rain chances continue Friday as several additional impulses track across the area.
Rain chances peak between midnight and 7:00 a.m. Friday. Look for clouds to increase tonight with low temperatures falling into the lower and middle 40’s. Winds become southwest at 10 to 15 mph overnight tonight.
Cloudy skies start the day off Friday. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will track to the east with coverage becoming isolated in nature by noon. Partial clearing is possible during the day with high temperatures in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s across the viewing area. Winds become northwest during the afternoon as a cold front moves across the area.
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms will return Friday afternoon and evening as the cold front tracks across the region.
Scattered clouds are in the forecast Friday night with a slight chance of a wintry mix mainly across the northern South Plains. Low temperatures fall into the lower 30’s for the Lubbock area.
Gusty north winds and colder temperatures are expected Saturday with highs in the 40’s and lower 50’s.
Models are showing a stronger cold front Saturday night and Sunday with a few models showing a wintry mix Sunday across portions of the South Plains. Highs hold in the 30’s and 40’s Sunday.
