LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This past Tuesday, former Red Raider coach Kliff Kingsbury became head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
With the hire, Kingsbury became the 42nd coach in Cardinals franchise history and is expected to have a four-year deal, with a team option for the potential fifth.
With the salaries NFL Coaches make today it is safe to assume Kingsbury will make several million dollars a year, given the fact that they lured him away from USC.
So a question popped up in the KCBD Newsroom - does this impact the Tech's buyout?
Texas Tech still owes Kingsbury $4 million over the next two years.
This time next year, the University will owe him one payment of $1.95 million for the 2019 season.
Then, Texas Tech will owe him a payment of $2.05 million due in January of 2021 for the 2020 season.
