Police searching for female suspect after shooting

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Officers with the Lubbock Police Department are searching for a woman after they say she shot a man around 3:27, early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened in the parking lot outside of La Kumbia at 5001 Ave Q, in central Lubbock. Police were called to the scene where they arrived to find 35-year-old Mario Alberto Martinez with a gun shot wound to the abdomen.

Police say the suspect is believed to be a Hispanic female.

Previous reports had the woman being kicked out of the club earlier in the evening and returning with a gun, but according to the owner of the club, that was not the case.

Reports from the Lubbock Police Department state that a fight between the man and woman occurred outside the club, and a bouncer advised her to leave.

The woman then retrieved a gun from a vehicle and shot the man in the parking lot. She left the scene, but left the gun behind. The woman is believed to have left in a white Chrysler passenger car.

This shooting remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on the shooting or knowledge of the woman’s location are urged to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.
