1 man killed, another injured in 2-car crash in Cochran County

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - An elderly Bledsoe man died in a wreck on the highway between Bledsoe and Whiteface in Cochran County, that left another man with incapacitating injuries.

The crash happened on Friday, January 11, around 8:50 PM, on State Highway-125, as 43-year-old Richard Sanchez of Albuquerque was headed westbound in a 2015 Chevy Express towards Bledsoe, when he veered left into the oncoming traffic lane.

82-year-old Bill Benham of Bledsoe was driving his 2013 Ford F-150 in that lane when he swerved to avoid the oncoming vehicle, and the collision occurred.

Both vehicles came to rest up-right on opposite sides of the highway.

This crash was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
