LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Having lost three Conference games in a row, the 14th ranked Red Raiders step out of Big 12 play this weekend to host former Southwest Conference foe Arkansas in the Big 12/SEC Challenge 5 p.m. Saturday at the United Supermarkets Arena.
It will be the 80th meeting between Texas Tech and Arkansas, with the Red Raiders last win at home against the Razorbacks coming February 4, 1989. However, the teams didn’t play between 1991 and 2005 and from 2006-2016.
Texas Tech has won 46 straight non-conference games at home, a streak that started in December of 2013.
Chris Beard hopes his team can get back to their winning ways Saturday.
“The key to playing at this level is consistency. We haven’t quite found it yet. That’s what we are searching for. This is life in the Big 12. Two game winning streak, free car washes and queso and chips. Lose a couple games, people act like you can’t play or coach. It’s no problem. It’s what you sign up for at this level.”
The Red Raiders will have a quick turnaround as after Saturday’s game against Arkansas, they jump back into Big 12 play to host TCU 8 p.m. Monday night.
