Nearly $600,000 worth of meth recovered during traffic stop in Oldham County

OLDHAM COUNTY, TX (KFDA) - Not signaling a lane change resulted in the arrest of one man on Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Vega for having almost $600,000 worth of methamphetamine.

According to federal court documents, the driver of a 2018 Toyota Rav4 said he was heading east on I-40 to Bentonville, Arkansas to preach the word of God, but a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper noticed a suspicious spare tire in the car.

When the tire wouldn’t bounce on the pavement, the trooper took the man and the car to the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office in Vega.

That’s where officials say he found almost 13 pounds of the drug inside the tire.

The man, identified as 58-year-old Teodulo Vega Quintero of North Hills, California, was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail for intent to sell meth.
