LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Police are searching for a suspect after a shooting near 49th Street and Chicago Avenue on Sunday that left one man hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Two men report they were driving near 49th and Chicago when a man, who is the suspect in this case, flagged them down and asked for a ride, according to a police report from the Lubbock Police Department. When the man got inside the vehicle the driver and passenger saw he had a black handgun.
Both men jumped out of the vehicle and jumped back in. The suspect also jumped out of the vehicle and began to shoot.
After driving away, one man noticed the other was shot and they drove to University Medical Center. The other man inside the vehicle was not hit by any bullets.
Once police were able to investigate they found the vehicle had four bullet holes in it. Three holes were found in the back of the seat the gunshot victim was in and another bullet hole was on the front dashboard.
Both men did not see the direction the suspect ran, and police have yet to locate the suspect. Police describe the suspect as a black man who was wearing a navy jacket, standing at 5 feet, 7 inches and weighs around 160 pounds.
Police are still investigating this case. KCBD NewsChannel 11 will update this story when more information becomes available.
