LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Red Raider baseball team started up the 2019 season in front of a sold-out crowd but didn’t have the performance that they wanted – as they fell to Oregon 9-4.

This is the first time that the Red Raiders and the Ducks have faced off on the Diamond.

In the first inning, the Red Raiders got on the board with an RBI single by Brian Klein.

Oregon would answer with three in the third, and then three more in the fourth – before Cameron Warren would hit a solo home run in the fourth.

Oregon would go on to tally three more runs in the game – giving the Red Raiders their first loss of the season.

Caleb Killian will pick up the loss after tossing 3.1 innings and giving up six earned runs.

Up next for the Red Raiders, they will host the Ducks for game two on Saturday – first pitch is at 3 p.m.
