LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Tech basketball program has moved to No. 11 in the AP Top 25 Poll, moving past Kansas for the first time this season. Tech is now the highest ranked in the Big 12 Conference, followed by Kansas, which dropped down three spots to No. 15.
The bump up comes after Tech beat Kansas 91-62 in a stunning defeat on Saturday, the only game the Red Raiders played last week.
This rise in the poll follows a three-week increase for the squad, coming up from a No. 18 rank in Week 14. Now in Week 17, the Red Raiders sit in between No. 10 Marquette and No. 12 Nevada. This week, Duke is also down two spots to No. 3, replaced by now No. 1 ranked Gonzaga.
The only other Big 12 school included in the Top 25 this week is Kansas State, which trails Kansas at 16.
The Red Raiders are set to play Oklahoma State 6 p.m. Wednesday inside the United Supermarkets Arena. After that, the team plays TCU at 3 p.m. in Fort Worth.
