LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The grand opening for Joyland Amusement Park has been delayed by one week.
A release states that due to inclement weather conditions expected on March 2, 2019, officials have decided to push the opening day to Saturday, March 9 at 2 P.M.
Earlier this February, KCBD brought the story that one of Joyland’s longtime thrill rides was being replaced.
It was a staple at Joyland Amusement Park for the past 44 years. The Mad Mouse roller coaster, or Mouse Trap as many call it, is being taken down to make room for a new attraction.
The Mad Mouse is being sold and will go on to live at another amusement park.
The Sandstorm roller coaster will be taking its place.
The new coaster will be up and running this summer, but the amusement park will now open on March 9.
