Hail reported in Lubbock as severe weather passes through town

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Storm warnings were canceled at 11 p.m. after a night of heavy hail across the South Plains, including within the city of Lubbock.

Police desk reported flooding at South Loop 289 at Quaker, 7400 block of Avenue P and Inler and 4th. Inler and 4th was completely shut down as of 11 p.m.

South Plains Electric Coop responded to an outage on Frankford as of 10 p.m.

As for the weekend, drier air will move in along with southwest winds of 20-30 mph and a combination of sunshine, dry air and gusty winds. The afternoon highs for most of the area will soar to the 70s.

Winds will decrease by mid-afternoon on Saturday.

Sunday will be very nice with highs in the range of 75 to 80 degrees across the south plains. It will also be sunny and winds from the west to northwest at 15-20 mph or lower.

Once the severe threat leaves Saturday morning it should be a nice weekend.
