The morning of June 12th; every South Plains TV will be affected
On June 12th , NewsChannel 11 will make the "Big Switch." We currently broadcast in both analog and digital signals, but on June 12th we will solely broadcast in digital.
This change will affect every TV that receives NewsChannel 11, regardless of what type of signal your TV receives.
Digital Users: If you receive NewsChannel 11 through digital broadcast (i.e., you have a digital coverter box or you have a realitively new TV that receives digital signals), you will need to perform a channel scan in order to receive NewsChannel 11.
Digital converter boxes, tuners and TV's have a built in function that allows you to rescan for digital signals. On the morning of June 12th , you will need to rescan your coverter box or digital TV. We have provided step by step instructions on how to perform this type of scan on various converter boxes. With most coverter boxes and digital televisions, select the menu button on your remote and select the option that allows you to scan for digital channels.
Why do I need to rescan? On the morning of June 12th , NewsChannel 11 will not only end its analog broadcast, but we will also change what channel frequency that we broadcast digitally. In order for digital coverter boxes and televisions to see this change, you must rescan.
Analog Users: If you receive NewsChannel 11 through analog broadcast, you must get a digital converter box in order to continue watching NewsChannel 11 after June 12th . The U.S. Department of Commerce has $40 coupons available to ease the cost of a new coverter box.
