Wild morning leads to arrest of teens

Associated Press - September 7, 2009 3:35 PM ET

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Four Valencia County teens are jailed after police said they severely beat a man, stole his car, ran him over and fled from authorities.

Authorities identified the victim as Celso Molina. At last check, he was in critical condition.

Deputies responded to Molina's home early Sunday in Rio Communities.

A woman told deputies that four teens were pounding on her door and asking for her husband.

According to deputies, the victim went outside and the teens severely beat him with beer bottles and possibly ax handles.

Valencia County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Trujillo said Molina was run over when he tried to stop them from stealing his truck.

Deputies eventually spotted the stolen truck and used a spike strip at the Manzano Expressway and Las Maravillas to disable the truck.

After crashing, the teenagers were arrested.
