ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A sheriff's deputy was taken to an Albuquerque hospital after being involved in an accident while working the motorcade for Vice President Joe Biden, who spoke at a campaign fundraiser to benefit two New Mexico Democrats.
A Bernalillo County Sheriff's spokeswoman says the sergeant, whose name wasn't immediately released, had no visible injuries.
Several police units were blocking an intersection Monday when a woman drove around the police vehicles and collided with the sheriff's car.
The vice president, stumping ahead of next year's midterm elections, addressed a luncheon where about 100 guests paid $1,000 a plate. Funds go toward re-election bids next year for Rep. Martin Heinrich, who represents the Albuquerque area, and Rep. Harry Teague, who represents southern New Mexico.
