Caprock Winery changes ownership for the third time in less than a month. Wednesday, a judge approved the winery's sale to San Antonio businessman Jim Bodenstedt for $2.5 million. His company operates 117 restaurants in Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
He was one of two bidders in the sealed-bid auction that ended at midnight Tuesday. The other bid was for $855,000. The special auction was held after Albuquerque-based winery owner Laurent Gruet could not find the financing to back his more than $6 million.
The estate will pursue legal action against Gruet and against Gruet Winery for $4 million in damages.
