OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The San Antonio Spurs advanced to the Western Conference Finals after defeating the Golden State Warriors 94-82 in Game 6 last night. Tim Duncan had 19 points and Kawhi Leonard scored 16 for the Spurs. San Antonio opens the conference finals at home against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Geovany Soto hit a three-run homer last night as the Texas Rangers powered past the Detroit Tigers 10-4. Nelson Cruz also homered for the Rangers, who rocked Tigers ace Justin Verlander for eight runs in less than three innings of work. Don Kelly and Jhonny Peralta both hit solo shots for the Tigers.
HOUSTON (AP) - The Astros have called news conference today amid reports that a son of Texas Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan has been chosen to be Houston's next president. Reid Ryan is the CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball, which owns two minor league teams. Ryan will take over the position that was left vacant when George Postolos resigned on Monday.
HOUSTON (AP) - The Houston Texans have signed fourth-round draft pick Trevardo Williams. The linebacker out of Connecticut is 1 of 5 drafted players signed by the Texans. Williams started 30 of 50 games he played in for Connecticut.
