Texas Tech Responds to Comments Made by Coach Bob Knight

Texas Tech cannot condone such language.

We admire and appreciate the positive things Coach Knight has brought to Texas Tech through such activities as fund-raising and national recognition.

Above all, we appreciate what he contributes on the court through the development of student-athletes.

However, Coach Knight represents mor than just himself and the coaching profession, he represents Texas Tech University.

Statement from Texas Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers concerning ESPN interview with Coach Knight.

"Neither the university nor the athletic department in any way condones the use of profanity in Coach Knight's description of his feelings about the media (Monday night). We feel Coach Knight was sincere in saying that he wished he had not used the type of language he used toward the media. I have talked to Coach Knight and I have expressed our feelings to him and he is in total agreement with them and regrets his choice of words."
