Lubbock Power and Light has a new independent governing board.
On November 2nd, Lubbock voters overwhelmingly approved a proposition creating the electric utility board.
Here the list of people who city council appointed Friday:
Although LP&L remains a city-owned asset, this new board of directors is responsible for hiring and firing employees, setting electric rates and approving the use of funds.
The independent board is designed to help avoid past financial problems and keep rates competitive.
