Gov. Perry Names Three Individuals To Texas Tech University System Board of Regents

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of Mark Griffin of Lubbock, Dan T. Serna of Arlington and Larry Anders of Plano to the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents for terms to expire Jan. 31, 2011.

Griffin is president and general counsel for Rip Griffin Truck Service Center, L.P., and serves as president of Pro Petroleum, Inc. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Lubbock County Bar Association. Griffin also serves as a director of Covenant Health System. He is president of the Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees and a director of Plains Capital Corporation. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, he received a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.

Serna is president and founder of Serna & Company, P.C. He is a former member of the Texas Public Finance Authority (TPFA), appointed by former Gov. George W. Bush and reappointed by Gov. Perry. Previous to his service on the TFPA, Serna was a delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Small Business, appointed by former Gov. George W. Bush. He served two terms on the Arlington City Council and currently serves on the board of the Arlington Ethics Commission, the Tarrant County Hospital District, the Arlington Chamber Foundation Board and the Arlington Library Foundation Board. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and the Fort Worth Chapter of the TSCPA. Serna received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University.

Anders is chairman and CEO of Summit Alliance Companies. He is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, Top of the Table, the Dallas Estate Council, the Transamerica Advisory Council and the 25 Million Dollar Forum. Anders serves on the board of the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business, the Texas Tech Red Raider Club and the Dallas Red Raider Club. He also is a member of the Texas Tech Chancellors Council and the Texas Tech Alumni Century Club. Anders attended Texas Tech University and received a chartered life underwriter designation from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

These appointments are subject to senate confirmation.
