Fox Resigns/Dumbauld Appointed New City Manager of Lubbock

Lee Ann Dumbauld is the new City Manager of Lubbock. The promotion came just seconds after Lou Fox resigned. “It’s a very exciting opportunity and I'm just delighted that the council has faith in me to appointment me to a permanent position,” said Lee Ann Dumbauld.

Dumbauld was Lubbock's chief financial officer, making $125,000 a year. Now she'll be making $225,000. She is also on the Finance Committee for the West Texas Coalition for the George W. Bush Library.

NewsChannel 11 was at Thursday's city council meeting when Lou Fox handed in his resignation just before 4:30 that afternoon. Fox handed council members a letter around one on the afternoon. After that they then went into executive session. After passing budget, went back into executive session and that's when they accepted his resignation.

In the letter, Fox says he wanted to be with family in San Antonio. He's accomplished many things in Lubbock, including balancing the budget, but he says he’s most proud of being a part of this community. “It's been a year and a half and we've accomplished a lot. I think we're leaving a great staff and Lee Ann’s going to be a great city manager,” said Fox.

Now for some background information. Lou fox was hired in 2004. Lubbock’s first external hire in 37 years. He was making $258,000. He came to Lubbock from San Antonio where he was the city manager, responsible expanding the Riverwalk.

While city manager for Lubbock, Fox made key hires.

• Tom Adams, as Deputy City Manger.
• Lee Ann Dumbauld as Chief Financial officer.
• D.C. Kiyemba, Director of Internal Audit.

Fox's resignation is effective September 15th. He will receive a six month severance package.
