Barbara Sucsy

Barbara Sucsy has an associate's degree from York College, York, Nebraska, and attended Lubbock Christian University.  She worked as a legal secretary and/or legal assistant at several law firms from 1978 through 2002, prior to taking office as District Clerk in 2003.  During that time period, she gained valuable experience in family, adoption, civil, appellate and criminal law.  Ms. Sucsy is seeking re¬election for a second term as District Clerk.  During her first term, she served on several Lubbock County committees, including the Personnel Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, the Executive Committee, and she was co-chairman of the Website Revision Committee.

Ms. Sucsy is actively involved in the following organizations:

• County & District Clerks' Association
• Lubbock Legal Professionals Association, having served two terms as president and two-time recipient of the Legal Secretary of the Year award
• Texas Association of Legal Professionals, currently serving as President, and is a recipient of the Legal Secretary of the Year award presented by Texas ALP
• West Texas Association of Legal Professionals, recipient of the Legal Assistant of the Year award

Barbara has been married to Lubbock attorney Steven M. Sucsy for 29 years.  Hannah Sucsy is a graduate of Texas Tech University and is engaged to be married on November 18th.  Alan Sucsy is a graduate of Lubbock Christian University and is employed as a videographer for the David Lanehart Law Firm.
