Although it is not official, it appears SMU is the winner in the competition to be the home of the Bush Presidential Library.
The Presidential Library selection committee says it's entering into "further discussions" with Southern Methodist University, which is the alma mater of First Lady Laura Bush.
The two other finalists for the library are Baylor and the University of Dallas.
In 2002, a committee in Lubbock called the West Texas Coalition was formed to try to bring the library to Texas Tech. Before he became mayor, David Miller was the head of the committee. Tech remained in the running until being eliminated in March of 2005.
