Texas Tech and Angelo State Merger Sent to Governor Perry

Legislation to align Angelo State University with the Texas Tech system unanimously passed the Texas Senate on Tuesday.

Angelo State University would maintain its name, it's mascot and its colors. The ASU Carr Scholarship would continue being specific to ASU students. ASU bond obligations would become Tech's obligations. And tuition wouldn't increase more with Tech than it would in any other circumstances.

In turn, Tech has the chance to align with a premier undergraduate institution that shares its West Texas values.

House Bill 3564m by Senator Robert Duncan (R) of Lubbock and Rep. Drew Darby (R) of San Angelo, is now on its way to Gov. Rick Perry.
