LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - One area woman will be watching Leno's final show tonight because she was actually once on it. "There was Jay Leno interviewing people, and I get star struck, so I wormed my way into the crowd," said Stacy Reeves of Floydada.
On June 9, 2006 Reeves made her television debut while on a trip to Disneyland. That's when a producer picked her out of the crowd to tape the popular segment called "Jay Walking" on The Tonight Show. The topic that day was teen slang.
Leno asked Reeves if she knew what a "fancy grill" was. She replied, "Well my son wants a grill that does butane and charcoal. In my opinion, that would be a fancy grill." Leno told her it actually is gold stuff that they put on your teeth.
After her appearance on The Tonight Show, Reeves got a little more press coverage. She made the front page of the Floyd County newspaper. "Our local newspaper had a contest where we would take our newspaper on vacations and stuff and take pictures with the newspaper," said Reeves. She won the contest, and got $100 for her picture with Leno.
Reeves says it made for a very memorable vacation, "It was a lot of fun, and he was so kind. He had pretty blue eyes. I was so excited, and I still get excited when I think about it."
