Water, election results and Animal Control controversy on city's agenda

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock City Council meets Thursday in special session.  There are three big items on the agenda.  First is a possible settlement between the city and 19 Garza County landowners. The two sides previously disagreed over how much money the city should pay for the right to lay a water pipeline across their properties. The city is building a pipeline to Lake Alan Henry. 

The city is also expected to canvass and confirm results of the November 3rd election. Bond issues for street projects and new fire stations passed. Soccer fields and splash pads failed. 

Also, the city council meets behind closed doors on the issue of Animal Services.  Director Kevin Overstreet was put on paid leave last week. NewsChannel 11 broke the story that Overstreet called for the resignations of his bosses after his claim that private details of settlement negotiations were leaked.  Overstreet and the city have been at odds for a little more than one year.
