A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of a tornado in your area.
You should:
- Remain alert for approaching storms:
- Look for darkening skies, flashes of lightning, the sound of thunder, large hail or increasing wind. These are signs that the storm is approaching.
- Look for signs of a tornado:
- An approaching cloud of debris can mark the location of a tornado. A funnel may not be visible
- Before a tornado hits, the air is often very still and the sky make take on a greenish color
- A load roaring noise similar to the sound of a freight train is often heard from an approaching tornado.
- Review the safety procedures for your home, school, business, etc.
