CONROE, Texas (AP) - No one was injured when an SUV smashed into an ice cream shop in Conroe, just north of Houston. Several children were inside the vehicle early today when it slammed into a Marble Slab Creamery. Three customers and two workers were inside the business, which has closed because of the accident.
HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston pawn shop customer was killed after authorities say he loaded his own ammo into a handgun from a shop case and fired at a worker who shot back. The Houston Chronicle reports that the shooting took place yesterday at the Northwest Pawn Shop. The customer was identified as 50-year-old Melvin Clark, a regular at the shop.
DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Morning News reports that about 7.6 million jobs have disappeared nationally since the recession began in December 2007. Texas has lost 172,700 jobs, and the Dallas-Fort Worth area has lost 93,300 jobs. The hiring outlook remains weak.
CANYON, Texas (AP) - A West Texas A&M football player is dead and another student critically injured after a single-vehicle crash in central Texas. The university says Kendrick Cutsinger, a junior tight end, died in the crash Friday in Llano County. Julio Rada-Moya was taken to an Austin hospital.
