Lawmakers hoping ad campaign will increase marriages in U.S.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are making marriage the center of a $5-million media campaign to convince people that marriage has its health benefits.

The ads will begin running on Facebook and MySpace targeting 18 to 30-year-old singles.  They are telling them that tying the knot leads to greater wealth, health, and happiness.

So what's the deal?  Why would Uncle Sam care?  It's because fewer and fewer people are tying the knot.  In today's times, for every 1000-people, there are only seven marriages. Lawmakers are convinced that strengthening marriage is a good investment during tough economic times when relationships may be tested even more than usual.
