Man Burned in Oil Truck Explosion

A man is in critical condition after his oil truck exploded in Hockley County. The accident happened just South of Sundown around noon on Wednesday. Sundown Fire Chief Doug Barry, says it's unclear why the truck exploded.

Barry says the trucks are used to heat liquids like oil or gas. The truck was destroyed and Barry says the man was badly burned. "As soon as we noticed how bad he was burning, we notified Aerocare in Lubbock, because we knew he needed to get to that trauma center as quick as possible," said Sundown Fire Chief, Doug Barry.

Aerocare took the man to University Medical Center's Burn Unit. His name has not been released.
