An explosion in the Panhandle sent two burn victims to UMC. It happened Tuesday afternoon in Pampa, about 55 miles north-east of Amarillo.
Pampa Fire Chief Kim Powell says concrete workers were refinishing the floor of a basement of a home at the time of the accident. They had been using lacquer thinner, and somehow those fumes ignited. The home was destroyed and three people were injured. One was treated at the scene, and the other two were brought here to Lubbock.
As of Wednesday night, Michael Smail and Lyle Johnson of Amarillo are in critical condition. None of the homeowners was home at the time the blast.
