We used to consider vasectomy a permanent birth control, but today many men are changing their minds even long after the procedure. So how hard is it to reverse the procedure? Here is Dr. Anthony Thomas with the answer.
"The sooner you do it after vasectomy the better your success rate is. If we reverse a vasectomy for example under three years about 98% of men get their sperm back and 75% get their wives pregnant," says Anthony Thomas, M.D. a Urologist.
According to the National Institutes of Health, half a million men undergo a vasectomy in the U.S. every year. A 10 minute office procedure that costs about $500. Keep in mind that if you choose later to reverse the procedure, it becomes a delicate surgical effort that takes two to three hours and costs around $5,000, depending on various charges in the operating room.
