LUBBOCK, TX. (KCBD) - Lubbock County took the lead about two years ago becoming the first to try vote centers instead of traditional precincts during election years. Officials got the analysis Monday from a new study on whether or not they worked in getting more people to the polls. Lubbock County was compared to places like Potter and Randall Counties.
Lubbock County Election Official Dorothy Kennedy says "they were high as well but ours were significantly higher so we felt very pleased that we had an outside source come in and say that the vote centers are working great and the way of the future and the way to keep moving forward in Lubbock County."
County Commissioners also took steps to get the new Medical Examiner's Office up and running.
