One person dead and one in critical condition in two car collision near Shallowater - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - NewsChannel 11 is following a fatal accident that happened around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday just south of Shallowater.

DPS and Carlisle responded to the intersection of FM 179 and CR 2641 where a yellow dodge truck and a red Honda SUV collided. The yellow truck was heading east on 2641 and the red SUV was traveling north on Hwy. 179. DPS believes the driver of the truck failed to stop at the stop sign.

The driver of the red SUV, Jamie Lee Nesmith 58, died at the scene. Her 15-year-old son James was transported by Aerocare to University Medical Center and is in serious condition.

The driver of the yellow truck, Jackie Marley, was not injured.
