The City of Lubbock says there is no need to worry. Friday's sewage spill in north Lubbock did not contaminate our city's drinking water.
The incident happened when an LP&L crew was putting in a power pole, and struck a sewage line, spilling more than 100,000 gallons of raw sewage onto the streets. Although this did not affect the water supply, some sewage did make its way into the Canyon Lakes.
City health officials say for the next week, people should try to avoid the Canyon Lakes system beginning with lake three and heading east.
