LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the Lubbock American Diabetes Association are teaming up to sound the alert. They met Tuesday morning on Diabetes Alert Day as part of a national call to action to find people at risk and leading the call was Dr. Steven Berk, Dean of the Medical School. Dr. Berk said of the events, "The reason it's so important is because you may have diabetes and not recognize it. The symptoms might be that you're thirsty, or you're urinating frequently. You may not put it all together with diabetes. So you really need to get screened to be sure".
TTUHSC is sponsoring a free screening for diabetes later this week at the Larry Combest Wellness Center at 301 40th Street, which is at 40th and Avenue A, from 8 a.m. to noon or from 1 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday.
