Deadly collision claims the life of Shallowater woman

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - One woman is dead and her son is in the hospital after an accident near Shallowater.  Jamie Lee Nesmith, 58, died when a yellow pickup truck collided with her SUV at the intersection of Farm to Market roads 2641 and 179 Tuesday morning.

DPS believes the driver of the pickup truck ran a stop sign. AeroCare transported Nesmith's 15-year-old son James to University Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition. The driver of the pickup, Jackie Marley, was not injured.

At this time, no charges have been filed. There is at least one similarity between Tuesday's crash, and a deadly collision on March 6th. DPS says in both cases someone ran a stop sign. Six people died in the March 6th wreck. Only three days later, County Commissioners had a discussion of dangerous intersections in Lubbock County.

Tuesday's wreck and the March 6th wreck are close. Both are along FM 2641.
