Raider Teams to Host Special Practice for Coaches vs. Cancer

The National Association of Basketball Coaches, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, and the American Cancer Society have teamed up in a special effort to fight cancer. Over 500 coaches nationwide are set to support the Coaches vs. Cancer Program, and the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders are challenging you, Texas Tech's greatest basketball fans.

To kickoff the 2002 - 2003 basketball season and the Coaches vs. Cancer season, you are invited to a joint practice session of the Lady Raider and Red Raider basketball teams. You will have the opportunity to see both squads practice, meet the coaches, and visit with the players. There will be a special informal reception, a few moments to share with you why we are so personally committed to Coaches vs. Cancer. There will be refreshments, door prizes, and special incentives to join the Coaches vs. Cancer team. This is your personal invitation to attend this special practice on November 18th, 2002 at the United Spirit Arena -- and bring a friend! The schedule for this first-time event is as follows:

5:00-6:00 Red Raider Open Practice
6:00-6:30

Reception with

Bob  Knight & the Red Raider Team

Marsha Sharp & the Lady Raider Team

6:30-7:30 Lady Raider Inner Squad Scrimmage

The Coaches vs. Cancer Program is simple. There is a hope that all Tech fans will make a pledge for each three point shot that the Lady Raiders &/or Red Raiders sink this season. The money raised makes a significant impact locally.
