City of Lubbock water restrictions now in effect

LUBBOCK, TEXAS (KCBD) - To minimize water lost to evaporation during warmer and windier times of the day, water restrictions are now in effect.

The City continues to allow watering between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 a.m.  Water use between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. is restricted in order to minimize evaporation.

The restrictions are part of the City's irrigation ordinance, which applies from April 1st to September 30th each year.

Exceptions are allowed for newly planted grass or landscaping, soaker hoses, and watering by hand.

The City continues to allow watering two days per week with up to one and a half inches of water for each area of the yard.  Citizens can help stop the waste of water by eliminating significant runoff while watering lawns and gardens.

To report violations, please call the Water Hotline at (806) 775-3952.
