Hands for Hope walk to raise autism awareness on Sunday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock Independent School District has about 200 autistic children on their school rosters. 

The Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research is a program at Texas Tech dedicated to improving the quality of life for these children and their families, in school and even as young adults.  The Hands for Hope 2009 Walk for Autism Awareness, this Sunday is intended to raise awareness and funds for the Burkhart Center to help area families.

The walk is at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Willie McCool Track at Coronado. The walk is free, but if you would like to buy a shirt, its $10.
