Chiropractors urge caution when carrying huge purses

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - If you're a woman who just has to have the latest oversized fashion bag and you fill it with everything you might need in a pinch, be careful, that purse could be hazardous to your health.

Shelly Burrows, whose purse weighs more than 10 pounds, says, "My shoulder pops out all the time and it keeps me up late at night".  Chiropractor, Dr. Yoran Lohr, adds, "When I'm evaluating them, I see that one shoulder is higher than another. That's probably the first thing that I see on the patient aside from the fact that they're coming in and bringing in these huge bags.  I've had patients come in with three bags on one arm and a dog purse".

Dr. Lohr's advice is to use common sense.  If you must carry a large bag, at least try to reduce the items in side often and be sure to switch shoulders often, before one shoulder needs the attention of a doctor.
