City Council Approves of City Manager's Performance

The City Council cited Cass for excellent work in hiring the new police chief and making the transition with the new Council. He also was commended for his work in providing an open environment between the council and staff, and for outstanding public interaction.

"One of the things we talked about, the excellent job he did in hiring a new police chief, and the people he put in place. Certainly the WTMPA audit is another area that is not complete yet, but that I think all the council is satisfied with the direction that Bob is headed in there," said Lubbock Mayor Marc McDougal.

Among the areas the council singled out for improvement are: training senior management staff, developing a process to verify information received from staff, and demonstrating more initiative for evaluating and disciplining subordinates. The council outlined six areas in which they want to see Cass take action in the future, including city boards, water planning, budget direction, various day-to-day operations, and long range planning.
