Governor Rick Perry is now in need of a new chief of staff. On Wednesday, Dr. Mike McKinney announced that he will be stepping down from his position.
McKinney made Lubbock headlines following his involvement in a brawl in the stands after last November's football game between Texas A&M and Texas Tech. His son, Seth, played for the Aggies.
A Perry spokesperson says McKinney only agreed to fill the position through the November elections. McKinney has now agreed to stay on to help the new chief of staff make the transition. No word yet on who his successor will be.
