LUBBOCK, TEXAS (KCBD) - One of NewsChannel 11's Most Wanted appeared in a Lubbock courtroom Monday.
Judge Cecil Puryear heard a motion to revoke the probation of Jon Ray Rodriguez, 30. Police say Rodriguez beat and nearly choked his former girlfriend to death last year, and then held her against her will.
Later, investigators determined that Rodriguez allegedly faked the evidence that led a judge to lower his bond, allowing him to go free. Authorities filed additional charges, and Rodriguez surrendered to Oklahoma authorities in May. However, he was later released by a judge there. Rodriguez was re-arrested a few days later, at his mother's home in Oklahoma.
Investigators say he was on probation for a previous offense, during that time. If that probation is revoked, Rodriguez could serve time in prison.
Proceedings will continue Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez is still awaiting trial for last year's aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault charges.
