The state board of education voted to give students more time to adjust to the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills or T.A.K.S. Test. So, this year and next, the state will be more leniant with their grading standards.
That means that in the test's third year, students will be required to score higher to pass to the next grade. The T.A.K.S. Exam replaces the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills, or TAAS Test.
